Indian Summer on the Water

There is something quite special about the late season riding.  The palette of colors that surround the lake has gone from green to muted browns and oranges.  The water is so much cleaner and seems to be deeper blue green.  The wind just feels different, maybe it’s that hint, or sometimes more than a hint, of winter approaching.  Yesterday was one of those days.

The winds were forecast to be out of the SW and mainly south and west of the cities.  SW is a bit of tough call.  Reddy is the call when the forecast includes that area, but it didn’t seem like yesterday was going to happen up there.  Cannon looked to be right in the zone, but the launch…arrgh.  Washington can also be good, and it sounds like it did provide the goods yesterday as well. At Waconia the town and the island can mess with the wind, at least directly upwind of the launch.  But many of us made the call to rendezvous at this wonderful lake to play in the unseasonably warm winds yesterday.

…many of us made the call to rendezvous at this wonderful lake to play in the unseasonably warm winds yesterday.

It was great to see Amanda, all smiles as usual,  Mikala and Andreas up from Rochester, the clan, Scott, Chad x 2, Kevin, Jim and Patty, Bryan, Brian, Brian, Dean, John, Bill, Jeff, Jim, Barry, Tom, Jason, Paul, Rob, Alfie, Jerry and quite a few others.  So many great boosts and smiles on the water.  The North end of the lake was the place to be.  The wind was up a big notch and so much smoother over there.  The swells cleaned up well for great slashing and big boosts.  Had some great popcorn boost sessions with Chad R, Scott, Brian, and Kevin.  So much fun.

So many great boosts and smiles on the water.

Warm enough to forgo the booties and gloves, warm enough to hang out in the sun post session,…what a great day!
